Lampwork with Denise Baker, 9:00 AM-12:00 PM

In this class, we use a tabletop-mounted torch that uses propane and oxygen. This is called a minor torch. Materials used include stainless steel mandrels, transparent glass rods, opaques, and reactive glasses. You will be taught to bring the glass to a molten stage and apply shape and balance to make beads, pull stringers, make murrine, and learn to use them to decorate the beads. You will work with shapes such as round, disk, lentil, bi cones, leaves, and figurines. We will also focus on safety, resources, and the importance of annealing your glass. Most importantly, have fun, make great friends, and learn and expand your art skills. This class costs $150 ($125 class fee and $25 lab fee).
